Tracy Hill to Participate in Vermilion House Community Health Fair

A group of students from Lakeview College of Nursing will participate in the Vermillion House Community Health Fair at 3535 N. Vermillion St. Danville, IL, on Thursday April 16, from 9am - Noon. The public is invited to attend this free event. There is no registration or application process required.

This event is geared towards the older individuals of the Danville community. At this event the Nursing students of Lakeview College of Nursing will be doing blood pressures, height/weights, pulse rates, BMI and Blood sugars. The local Cosmetology school will provide nail services, Parkland College Massage Therapy will be providing Massages, and Goodwill will be providing computer education.

Local vendors such as CRIS Senior Services, Meals on Wheels, Alpha-Care Home Health Professionals, Bowlin Chiropractic, Look Good Feel Better, and Polyclinic Medical Equipment will also be providing information on their services.

The Lakeview College of Nursing students were asked to host a health fair as part of the College's community health nursing curriculum. Tracy Hill of Urbana, IL is one of the nursing students who is assisting with the coordination of this event.

The students developed a plan, worked together to notify the public, and invited several local vendors to participate. They would like to thank the Vermilion house for being so kind in allowing them to host the fair in their community center. They would also like to thank the volunteer vendors for participating in the quest to offer the seniors in our community a chance to meet some of the local service providers, and learn of service options while obtaining a fee checkup. Throughout this process the nursing students have learned that it takes a team effort to provide the best quality care to our community and that nursing care goes far beyond the bedside.

Lakeview College of Nursing has provided excellence in nursing education since 1894. Lakeview currently offers a bachelor of science in nursing degree program in Danville as well as Charleston, Illinois.
