Lakeview Employees Receive Distinguished Service Awards

Becky Castillo of Charleston, IL and Carolyn Rauch of St. Joseph, IL Honored

Danville, IL (06/17/2021) — Lakeview College of Nursing recently honored one faculty member and one staff member with its Distinguished Service Award. Becky Castillo of Charleston, IL, and Carolyn Rauch of St. Joseph, IL were honored during the College's spring commencement ceremony.

Castillo is the administrative assistant for academic support at the College's Charleston Campus and has been employed at the College since 2010. Rauch is an assistant professor and tutor at the College's Danville Campus.

Katie King, who is a member of the Lakeview faculty and the chair of the college committee that selected the recipients, said, "This year we selected two recipients who are both very deserving of this award."

"Becky is a tremendous asset to our Charleston Campus and our College as a whole. She works tirelessly to ensure that faculty and students have what they need to succeed. And, Carolyn is an integral part of instruction at Lakeview, not only instructing in the classroom but also providing tutoring to our students," stated King.

According to King, Lakeview's Distinguished Service Award was established to recognize outstanding service or academic contributions that further the educational mission of Lakeview College of Nursing.

Specific criteria for the nominees included the following:

• Performance and service that has helped set superior standards and efficacy in relation to the mission of the College.
• Performance and service that consistently and substantially contribute an ability and willingness to work positively and effectively with others within the College and community.
• Performance and service that demonstrates the individual's commitment, genuineness, support and empathy to the welfare of self, individuals, families, groups and the community.
• Performance and service that demonstrates honesty, trust, fairness, respect and responsibility, and the ability to apply ethical standards in all area of practices.

Castillo holds an associate degree and a bachelor's degree in business administration from Strayer University. She completed a master's degree in business administration from Indiana Wesleyan University.

Rauch earned her nursing school diploma from Deaconness Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis, MO. She attained a bachelor's degree in nursing from McKendree College and achieved a master of science in nursing degree from St. Louis University. Additionally, Rauch is a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE).
