Danville, IL (10/29/2018) — Some Lakeview College of Nursing students and instructors will play the role of patients as well as healthcare providers when they participate in the College's upcoming Triage Day.

This special day will be held on Thursday, Nov. 1 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Lakeview's Charleston Campus, located at 580 W. Lincoln Ave. in Charleston, IL, and on Thursday, Nov. 1 from from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Lakeview's Danville Campus, located at 903 N. Logan Ave. in Danville, IL.

The Triage Day is a boot camp environment that helps prepare senior-level nursing students for the end of their final semester in the program. "The term triage refers to a sorting of injured or sick people according to their need for emergency medical attention. It is a method of determining priority for who gets care first and is important in our education of nurses," according to Shawna Storm, an instructor at Lakeview College of Nursing. Storm is coordinating the event on Lakeview's Charleston Campus.

Students at all levels of the nursing program and the College's faculty have been invited to participate in this event. They will be acting out the many roles that are necessary to the triage process.
