Danville, IL (10/01/2026) — Lakeview College of Nursing is partnering with the Vermilion County Health Department for its annual community flu vaccination clinic, taking place on Oct. 6, 2026 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., in the parking lot east of Lakeview College of Nursing, 903 N. Logan Ave., Danville.

Appointments are not required, and community members are welcome to drive up at any time during the clinic hours. Flu vaccinations are $43 for those 19 years of age or older. The Health Department will bill Medicare, Medicaid, state employee health plans, and most private insurance plans. Those using insurance should be prepared to present proof of these types of coverage at the time of vaccination.

The Health Department accepts cash and checks as payment and can also accept credit and debit card payments with a small service fee.

Lakeview College of Nursing and the Vermilion County Health Department are committed to offering accessible care to the community, with the annual flu vaccination clinic serving as one way the organizations work together to support community health. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends annual flu vaccination for everyone 6 months of age and older, with rare exceptions.

Lakeview College of Nursing students will be administering the vaccinations under the supervision of Lakeview faculty and the Vermilion County Health Department. Student participation in the clinic provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience while participating in community health initiatives.

Dr. Elaine Hardy, Dean of Nursing at Lakeview College of Nursing, said, "Lakeview College of Nursing's commitment to caring and service extends beyond the classroom, and allows our students to give back to the community. Getting the flu shot is an important way to protect yourself and help protect those around you, especially people who are vulnerable to serious illness. By making the flu shot available to the community, we are making preventive care more accessible and supporting the health of the community we serve."

The Vermilion County Health Department encourages everyone to take preventive measures to decrease the spread of germs this flu season.

Lakeview College of Nursing offers a bachelor of science in nursing degree. It is a single-purpose, private institution that has specialized in nursing education in the Danville, IL, area since 1894.
